Scan & Pay: using a UPI QR code in a P2P trade
Scan & Pay generates a UPI QR containing the payee and exact amount for that specific order, which removes the two most common payment errors - a mistyped account and a wrong amount. Verify the payee name in your UPI app before confirming.
Most failed P2P payments are not fraud. They are typos - a transposed digit in an account number, or a missing zero in the amount. A QR generated by the order removes both.
What the QR encodes
- The payee VPA for that order.
- The exact amount - no room to send ₹4,800 instead of ₹48,000.
- A reference tying the payment to the order.
The checks that still apply
- 1Confirm the payee name your UPI app displays matches the order.
- 2Confirm the amount matches before you authorise.
- 3Only ever scan a QR from inside the order - never one pasted into chat.
Pay by UPI Scan & Pay directly inside the order.

Is paying by UPI QR safer for P2P?
Yes, when the QR is generated inside the order - it fixes the payee and amount, removing typo risk. A QR sent in chat carries the same risk as any other unverified detail.
